HEREDITY & GENETICS 2009

Location: University of Utah, Health Sciences Education Building
Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
This intensive, engaging course explores:
- DNA, from structure to proteins
- Inheritance, adaptations and reproductive strategies
- Biotechnology applications such as stem cells, cloning, gene therapy, personalized medicine and genetics and addiction
- Bioethical issues related to genetic technologies
All course content is designed to address Utah Science Core Curriculum Standards and National Science Education Standards for grades 7-12.
During the course you will:
- Engage in classroom-ready activities, carry out experiments, and experience a variety of teaching as assessment strategies
- Take part in discussions with University of Utah scientists about the cutting-edge research carried out in their laboratories
- Take home an extensive CD-ROM of lesson plans, activities and resources
FEES
Course fee: $275
University of Utah Credit (optional): $40 for 3 semester hours of graduate credit from the Department of Human Genetics
Deposit: $40, made payable to the University of Utah
