YOU'VE COME A LONG WAY DOLLY

Students construct a timeline of the history of cloning by presenting, then placing in order, newspaper articles outlining key events in cloning. Students must consider the increasing complexity of organisms cloned, and the progression of cloning technique to determine the placement of timeline events.

Prior Knowledge Needed

cell structure, cells differentiate throughout development, knowledge of Dolly the sheep as the first mammal cloned from an adult cell (not an embryo)

Time Required

Prep Time: 30 minutes (copying and review time)
Class Time: 70 minutes (may be extended by class discussion and/or assessment)
